Our Story
Alto Foods was started in 2024 with the dream of creating a sustainable food business that gives back to the environment by making delicious food.
Crabs play vital ecosystem roles in the ecosystem of the Chesapeake Estuary, predating on bivalves and being consumed by filter feeders, fish, and birds throughout the course of their lives.
Crabs rely on many environmental forces to sustain their populations, including water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and seagrass abundance, all of which have been affected by the changing climate and anthropogenic influences.
